Potty Training a Puppy

There is more than one effective method to get your puppy trained. Though the training method needs your time and patience, once the pup gets trained to your commands and obeys you, the relationship between you and your pup will get funnier and enjoyable.

Potty Training a Puppy – Tips

The first and the foremost thing to remember is that the pup is just a baby and seldom has control over its bladder. It must be trained to urinate and defecate outdoors. This action of the pup might be repeated several times a day. Potty training a pup might involve several weeks of patience and attention. You must get the signals of the pup when it wants to relieve itself, and take it outdoors. Some of the signals include barking, running in circles or whining. After all, your pup wants to be sweet to you and seldom wants to annoy you by its actions.

The crate method is used by few people to potty train a puppy. Since it’s the natural instinct of the dogs to stay in a confined environment, they easily get used to this crate training. Pups are unlikely to spoil their homes by urinating or defecating, hence the use of crates ensures that the pup doesn’t do such actions anywhere near its crate. As such they gain some amount of control over their bladders for a certain period of time during which you could take them outdoors.

Another method of potty training a puppy is the paper method. Here papers are just placed near the pups which the pups could use to urinate or defecate. Some pet stores supply pre-treated papers which could be bought for your pup. These are papers which have a scent that attracts your pup to the area where it is placed.
